Understand your daily score

Why does my readiness score change during the day?

Your score reflects the usable records Tawen can read when it updates. A source app may sync sleep later, add activity or revise an earlier record. That means a new score can reflect new information, not just a change in how you feel.

Tawen 1.1.4 · Updated October 3, 2026 · By the Tawen team

1. A sync can change what Tawen knows

The data takes a route: your wearable or health app records it, the source app shares supported records with Health Connect, and Tawen reads the records you allow. Those steps do not necessarily happen together.

For example: you open Tawen before your watch has finished syncing sleep. Later, your source app shares the sleep session and Tawen refreshes. The score may change because sleep is now available. This is an illustrative sequence, not a prediction that adding sleep will raise or lower your score.

Sources can also revise an earlier record. Tawen may therefore receive a more complete view after your first check. If a signal never arrives, follow the missing HRV or sleep guide.

2. The available activity and comparison data can change

Activity records build up through the day. New readings can enter the relevant time windows, and Tawen uses personal baselines for some signals as history becomes available. Comparing a morning score with an evening score is not always comparing the same set of inputs.

More steps do not automatically mean a better score. The result combines available signals rather than treating one measurement as a verdict on your day.

When a signal is missing, Tawen marks it unavailable. Its scoring rules account for missing information; too little usable data means it cannot show a readiness score. A score with incomplete inputs deserves more context than a number alone.

3. An update frequency is a request, not an appointment

Choose a background data-update frequency in onboarding or Settings:

Android can delay background work. These choices do not promise an update at an exact clock time or make your source app sync more often. Opening Tawen or pulling down on the Dashboard can refresh available data; it cannot force your wearable to supply a missing measurement.

Google explains that periodic background work can run later because of system scheduling and constraints.

Before interpreting a change, check these three things

  1. Has your source app synced? Look for the expected record in Health Connect, not only in your watch app.
  2. Which signals are available? Compare the signal breakdown, especially if sleep or HRV was missing earlier.
  3. Are you comparing like with like? Allow for the time of day, new activity and the date of the records. A refreshed view is not proof that every source supplied fresh data.

New to sharing data? Set up Health Connect step by step. If supported records are present and readable but Tawen still does not reflect them after a refresh, email [email protected] with the app version, source app and what you expected. You do not need to send health values.

Does Gemini change the number?

No. Tawen calculates the score using scoring rules on your phone. On supported phones, Gemini Nano can write an explanation of the available result. Otherwise Tawen Fit provides a rule-based explanation. Changing the explanation source does not make AI responsible for the score.

The score is a general-wellness summary, not a diagnosis or an instruction to train or rest. How you feel and the context of your day still matter.

The free app includes your daily readiness score, available-signal breakdown, a two-sentence insight preview and seven days of history. Optional one-time Pro adds full insights, longer history, weekly reports and widgets.
